Who are you?
How did you get this idea?
What can I do to help?
Can I start a chapter of the Baby Box Project in my school/county/city/etc.?
- I am Luna Floyd, a 2015 graduate of Pensacola High School's International Baccalaureate program. I began this project to fulfill a service requirement, but it became much more. As of July 2015, Lia Davis has taken over the Pensacola branch of the project, as I begin a chapter in Providence, RI.
How did you get this idea?
- I was reading an article on The Huffington Post about a program in Finland: every child, rich or poor, gets a box filled with baby supplies- even the box itself is a crib. My school, Pensacola High School, is certainly an inner-city school, with many teen moms and moms-to-be. A program like Finland's, instituted in Pensacola High, could help these girls have the security they need to stay in school. At the very least, I hoped I could ease the transition period into motherhood. The article that inspired the project can be read here.
What can I do to help?
- Anything you think will help, probably will. Media exposure, monetary donations, time donations, donations of items, anything at all to raise awareness and money. If you have an idea or a service you can offer, please fill out a "Contact" form and we'll get back to you right away. Thank you!
Can I start a chapter of the Baby Box Project in my school/county/city/etc.?
- Yes. If there's anything we can do to help you set up a new chapter, please, let us know! Our dream is to see this program spread across the US, so all babies can be healthy and happy.
